After dedicating over 400 hours during my final college semester—while balancing a startup, performing in bands, and navigating life’s challenges—I’m excited to unveil version 1.0 of my interactive 3D Portfolio! Inspired by Bruno Simon’s incredible toy truck resume, this project has been in the works for over two years, with official development kicking off in October 2024.

Growing up with classic N64 games like Donkey Kong 64 and Super Mario 64 sparked my imagination, and I set out to create a portfolio with my own unique twist. Nearly every model was built from scratch in Blender and imported into the project using THREE.js. The animated scene is driven by JavaScript and GSAP, organized through a singleton design pattern. I plan to transition to React Three Fiber in the future.

Every mini-game was developed from the ground up, with assets crafted in Photoshop or Procreate. I composed the background music and dance tracks in Logic Pro X and even integrated my 2020-2029 decade mural, which features hand-scanned illustrations originally created with markers and colored pencils. The music room offers a chance to demo tracks from the bands I’ve performed with over the years.

This project has been a massive creative journey, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. I plan to keep updating it as my skills and artistic vision evolve. Thank you for visiting—enjoy your experience!

Impressive 3D Portfolio Project

This is a fantastic example of using Three.js to create an interactive 3D portfolio! The project shows excellent technical implementation combined with creative design elements.

Technical Highlights

  • Built with Three.js for 3D rendering
  • Used JavaScript and GSAP for animations
  • Implemented a singleton design pattern for organization
  • Custom 3D models created in Blender
  • Future plans to transition to React Three Fiber

Creative Elements

  • Custom mini-games developed from scratch
  • Original assets created in Photoshop and Procreate
  • Self-composed background music and dance tracks using Logic Pro X
  • Integration of hand-drawn illustrations (2020-2029 decade mural)
  • Music room featuring tracks from the creator's bands

The inspiration from classic N64 games like Donkey Kong 64 and Super Mario 64 is evident in the design, while still maintaining a unique personal style. The project demonstrates an impressive combination of 3D modeling, game development, music composition, and web development skills.

The portfolio website (garrettwlarson.com) and the launch video provide a great showcase of what can be accomplished with Three.js when combined with other creative tools and technologies.
