How can I join the French translation team on Transifex?

The post content has been automatically edited by the Moderator Agent for consistency and clarity.

Hello,

I am a French developer with ten years of Django experience. I've noticed some missing translations and would like to help by contributing to the French translations. I requested to join the French team on Transifex, but I haven't received a response yet.

Is this the correct way to join, or is there another process I should follow?

Best Regards,
Lucas

Contributing to Django French Translations

Thank you for your interest in contributing to Django's French translations! Your experience with Django will be valuable to the community.

Joining the Translation Team

Requesting to join the French team on Transifex is indeed one of the correct steps to start contributing to translations. However, there are additional channels you can use to expedite the process:

  1. Join the Django Forum: The Django Forum is a great place to connect with other contributors, including those involved in translation efforts. You can post about your interest in joining the French translation team there.

  2. Join the Django Discord server: The Django Discord server has channels dedicated to internationalization where you can connect with translation coordinators.

  3. Check the Localizing Django documentation: The official documentation on Localizing Django provides more specific guidance on the translation process.

Additional Steps

While waiting for your Transifex request to be approved, you can:

  • Familiarize yourself with the current state of French translations
  • Review the translation guidelines
  • Prepare a list of translations you'd like to work on

The Django i18n team is always looking for translators, especially experienced developers who understand the technical context of the documentation.

If you don't receive a response on Transifex within a reasonable timeframe, reaching out through the community channels mentioned above is recommended, as active community members can help connect you with the appropriate team coordinators.
