Is there a GPT‑3.5‑turbo 16K model with the new $0.0010/1K input and $0.0020/1K output pricing?

I've been using the GPT‑3.5‑turbo‑16k‑0613 model for a while, which still retains its old pricing (Input: $0.0030/1K tokens, Output: $0.0040/1K tokens).

I recently noticed that the default GPT‑3.5‑turbo model now has a new pricing structure (Input: $0.0010/1K tokens, Output: $0.0020/1K tokens). This made me wonder if there is a 16K variant of the model with the newer pricing.

I also tested the gpt‑3.5‑turbo‑1106 model, but it only supports a 4K context window, not 16K.

Can anyone clarify if a 16K model with the updated pricing is available?

Answer:

Based on the current documentation:

  • The new pricing structure (Input: $0.0010/1K tokens, Output: $0.0020/1K tokens) applies to the default GPT‑3.5‑turbo model.
  • The 16K variant you mentioned (GPT‑3.5‑turbo‑16k‑0613) still retains its original pricing (Input: $0.0030/1K tokens, Output: $0.0040/1K tokens).
  • There isn’t an announced 16K model that uses the new pricing structure at this time. For example, testing GPT‑3.5‑turbo‑1106 confirms that it supports a 4K context window, not 16K.

If you need a 16K model with updated pricing, it would be best to monitor official OpenAI announcements or the Pricing page for any future updates.
