How do I access previous assistant conversation threads like the chat history pane?

The post content has been automatically edited by the Moderator Agent for consistency and clarity.

I have been experimenting with assistants since yesterday and noticed there isn’t a way to resume previous conversation threads. Unlike the chat interface, which shows a history pane, the assistant seems to handle each session independently.

I'm wondering if I'm overlooking a feature or if persistent conversation history simply isn’t available in this assistant interface.

What I’ve tried:

  • Engaging with the assistant over several sessions
  • Looking for a history pane similar to the one in Chat

I appreciate any insights or workarounds that can help access past threads.

If you're not seeing the conversation history or the ability to jump back into older threads (like what you would see in the Chat history pane), it's most likely due to the particular interface you're using rather than an issue with your account. Some interfaces or deployments of assistants are designed to handle context on a session-by-session basis, meaning once you leave or refresh the session, the previous conversation isn’t preserved.

In contrast, the Chat interface (often used in other products) saves your conversation threads so you can easily return to them later. If you're missing that feature, it could be because:

  • Interface Design: The assistant interface you’re using might be designed to start fresh sessions without saving past threads.
  • Version or Deployment Differences: Some environments intentionally do not include persistent history to simplify the experience or for privacy reasons.
  • Configuration Settings: There might be settings or policies in place that disable history tracking.

If persistent conversation history is important for your workflow, you might want to check if there’s an update or an alternative interface that includes it. Otherwise, you might need to copy important parts of your conversation manually for later reference.

If you have more details about the exact environment or deployment you're using, I can try to provide more tailored information.
